NEW ALBUM & VOICE OF DRUMS SHOW - 2025
I'm currently working on tracks for a new solo album and also developing a brand new live performance. I'm super excited about both. Please join my e-news list so I can keep in touch.
I'm currently working on tracks for a new solo album and also developing a brand new live performance. I'm super excited about both. The album remains in the 'world groove' vein and will feature performances from some of my extraordinary network of artist friends. The solo live show will also include material from artists I've worked with like IONA, John Paul Jones (Led Zep), Maddy Prior (Steeleye), Barbara Dickson, Peter Murphy (Bauhaus), Matt Redman and Graham Kendrick, alongside solo material. I'll be playing my unique percussion setup... and of course, telling stories from my many adventures. Please join my e-news list so I can tell you more about it soon.
I've also done remote sessions for UK songwriter and poet Godfrey Rust, Irish singer/songwriter Paul Creedon and contributing to a new colab project with Marty Dieckmeyer and Rob Watson from the USA.
The 2025 Los Angeles NAMM SHOW was a lot of fun and I had a great time seeing old friends and catching up on new gear. Big thanks to sE Electonics for the invitation.
UK artist Matt Steady's new album project 'Flight of the Raven' was released late 2024 and is available on double CD and Vinyl. All the drum tracks were recorded here in Sussex, UK.
Much of 2023-2024 was spent touring the USA and Europe with Martin Barre (formerly of Jethro Tull). The 2 hour show was largely Jethro Tull material, along side Martin's solo work. Here are some tour pics.
I played on two new Barbara Dickson albums released in 2024 'My Own Adventure' with tracks recorded here in Sussex and a 'Live' CD album released of Barbara's 2024 Farewell band tour. See picture from the tour.
A new Muncjac album by Mark Hutchinson, singer-songwriter and producer is also due for release very soon.
2024 also saw recording with legendary UK producer Steve Levine's Baltic Jazz recordings which have been featured in the British Jazz charts.
Commercial and sync writing with Dave Cooke and Topline Music library continues.
Adventures on my Royal Enfield. She's a 500cc classic Bullet called Edna and she seems to have a knack of creating conversation. Watch my 9 part mini-series where I ride out to visit friends to talk life, music and share stories.

"I grew up in Northamptonshire and left school at 16 to follow my dream of playing drums in a band. My dad introduced me to an incredible spectrum of songs and musical genres and within them I discovered Krupa, Morello, Ringo, Bonham, Carlton Barrett, Hughie Flint and many others, all of whom I credit as teaching me how to play.
More than four decades later, I still love drums and I'm still at it. What a journey it has been too. I have worked on literally thousands of recording sessions with some very special artists and I've got to do more than 50 international band tours. I also write, produce and collaborate on solo projects and teach at events as part of an initiative I call 'Voice of Drums'."
Some highlights amongst my credits include working with: John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin (album and tours), Peter Murphy (3 albums, Billboard No. 1 ‘Cuts You Up’) Peter Gabriel (studio tracks), Matt Redman (5 years touring, album sessions), Faith Hill (Europe TV dates), Steve Levine (UK hits with Honeyz, Louise, 911, King's Singers), Elizabeth McGovern (tours, TV dates, 3 albums), Iona (5 albums), Roddy Frame (TV dates and tours), Robin Mark (‘Days of Elijah’ and 2 live albums), Barbara Dickson (2 albums, tours), The Bad Shepherds (tours), Northern Sinfonia (tours), Steve Taylor (album, tours) and many others.
Other credits include writing music for the BBC, Channel 4, ITV, Discovery Channel, Netflix, Sky Arts, Animal Planet and getting a Guinness World Record for the longest ever drum roll (with Ed Freitas, Calum Rees and Liam Watts in 2005.
I am married to Jules who is an author and together we have six incredible children, a dog and two cats.
I've recorded at many of the UK's legendary studios including; Abbey Rd, Brit Row, Rockfield, Metropolis, Maison Rouge, Real World, The Wool Hall and Chapel studios to name a few. In 2005, I established my own recording space here, in West Sussex, enablling me to produce 'A' class drum and percussion tracks working directly with artists and producers, both in-house and remotely. One of the great advantages being that I have my vast collection of instruments on hand.
For over 20 years I've done sessions here for producers and clients including, Cameron Craig (Adele, Annie Lennox), Kipper Eldridge (Sting), Steve Levine (Culture Club, Gary Moore), Paul Statham (Dido, Kylie), Arthur Brown, Barbara Dickson, Right Said Fred, Topline Music, Elizabeth McGovern, Joanne Hogg, Matt Steady, The Nelson Bros, Trinity College and a great many more.
My room is a 150 year old oak-beamed barn, client friendly with easy parking, local accomadation and set in the beautiful surroundings of the South Downs.
The room is fully equipped for state of the art multitracking along with a vast range of instruments including vintage Ludwig, Sonor, Jalapeno custom kits, COB, copper, bronze, maple and birch premium snare drums and all kinds of amazing percussion instruments.
I have over 40 years recording experience and have produced in excess of 500 tracks for independent and label artists from here.
