NEWS

I'm honoured to be joining Barbara Dickson once more, but somewhat sadly for her last band tour. It will be 10 UK concert dates 11-24 February 2024 and feature a broad repertoire including tracks from her new album 'My Own Adventure', which I played on and is available via the link.

> BARBARA DICKSON

.

Since June 2023 I've been touring a 'Brief History of Tull' with the Martin Barre Band, alongside Dan Crisp (vocals/gtr/keys) and Alan Thomson (bass/keys). In March 2024 we will join a stella line-up including Marillion, Steve Hackett, Adrian Belew and others for Cruise To The Edge, with more US and European dates being scheduled for the year ahead.

> MARTIN BARRE PICS

I have been working with legendary UK producer Steve Levine on his recent Baltic Jazz releases, several of which are riding high in the British Jazz charts. I have worked with Steve on projects since the 90s for artists including Lulu, Honeyz, Brian Wilson, Andy Gibb, 6 Day Riot, Louise and many more.

> SÃO PAULO

I also enjoy life on two wheels with my faithful Royal Enfield Bullet named Edna. Edna seems to have a knack of creating conversation. Here are some moments I've captured riding out to meet friends.

  • CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

MARTIN BARRE (2023 ongoing) is newest in this list and I've been having a lot of fun touring 'A Brief History of Tull' with Martin, who is not only a legendary guitarist, but a gentleman to boot. Martin is best known for his long time role as the other half of Jethro Tull.

JOHN PAUL JONES (1999-2002) touring with JPJ and Nick Beggs playing ZEP classics, 'Black Dog', 'When the Levee Breaks' and others was a total career highight. We did 2 world tours including USA, UK, Europe and Japan and I played drums on John's 2nd solo album entitled 'The Thunderthief'. These were awsome days!

PETER MURPHY (1986-1992) I was in Pete's band 'The Hundred Men' during his most succesful era. It was certainly an adventure and the band remain friends to this day. 'Cuts You Up' made No. 1 in the Billboard charts in 1990 and we got to play some of  the world's most famous stages. I played on 3 albums of Peter's 'Love Hysteria, 'Deep' and 'Holy Smoke'.

IONA (1998-1998) My time with Iona was very special. I got to make some of the most beautiful music of my career with some of the most amazing people I've ever worked with (and still do). I recorded 5 albums with the band, 'Beyond These Shores' being my favourite and 'Journey Into The Morn' being the most well known.

ELIZABETH MCGOVERN - SADIE AND THE HOTHEADS (2009-ongoing) Elizabeth is well known as Lady Cora from the hit Film and TV series Downton Abbey and writes and sings as Sadie. Sadie and the Hothead gang are all total gems. Two highlights have been opening for Sting at the Montreux Jazz Festival 2013 and performing on TV's 'The Kumars' together.

GUINNESS WORLD RECORD - In 2005 I joined Ed Freitas, Calum Rees and Liam Watts to do 'The Longest Drum Roll Ever'. We did it and lasted 22hrs 5m and 23 secs!

GRAHAM KENDRICK (2008 - 2023) GK is known as the most prolific writer of contemporary Christian songs in the UK. 2022 was special as he celbrated 50 years recording and performing live. He's a great friend and it's always been an honour to play for and with him on his projects.

  • BACKGROUND

I grew up in Northamptonshire and left school at 16 to follow my dream of playing drums in a band. My dad introduced me to an incredible spectrum of songs and musical genres and within them I discovered Krupa, Morello, Ringo, Bonham, Carlton Barrett, Hughie Flint and many others, all of whom I credit as teaching me how to play.

More than four decades later, I still love drums and I'm still at it. What a journey it has been too. I have worked on literally thousands of recording sessions with some very special artists and I've got to do more than 50 international band tours. I also write, produce and collaborate on solo projects and do some teaching at events as part of an initiative I call 'Voice of Drums'.

Some highlights amongst my credits include working with: John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin (album and tours), Peter Murphy (3 albums, Billboard No. 1 ‘Cuts You Up’) Peter Gabriel (studio tracks), Matt Redman (5 years touring, album sessions), Faith Hill (Europe TV dates), Steve Levine (UK hits with Honeyz, Louise, 911, King's Singers), Elizabeth McGovern (tours, TV dates, 3 albums), Iona (5 albums), Roddy Frame (TV dates and tours), Robin Mark  (‘Days of Elijah’ and 2 live albums), Barbara Dickson (2 albums, tours), The Bad Shepherds (tours), Northern Sinfonia (tours), Steve Taylor (album, tours) and many others.

Other credits include writing music for the BBC, Channel 4, ITV, Discovery Channel, Netflix, Sky Arts, Animal Planet and getting a Guinness World Record for the longest ever drum roll (with Ed Freitas, Calum Rees and Liam Watts in 2005.

I am married to Jules who is an author and together we have six incredible children, a dog and two cats.
